Getting started

How does the prank work?: iCrack shows a fake screen defect over a screenshot of your own home screen. Add your screenshots, tap Arm, hand your phone to a friend and let them use it. On a phone with a foldable display, arm it while it's closed: as your friend opens it they feel a faint grit in the hinge, and at full open the screen "cracks".
How do I take the screenshot?: Move the iCrack icon off the home screen page you'll leave showing (or into a folder), then press the side button and volume up together. Come back to iCrack and tap Choose screenshot. On a foldable, take one of the inner screen (open) and, optionally, one of the cover screen (closed). Tap "How?" next to any screenshot in the app for step-by-step help.
Does it work without a foldable phone?: Yes. On any iPhone, arm it, hand it over, and the crack appears when your friend taps the screen.

How do I end it?: Hold two fingers still on the screen for 2 seconds. A menu opens with Reset, Reveal and Exit. With VoiceOver on, double-tap with two fingers instead. Or wait: by default it reveals itself 30 seconds after the crack with "Gotcha. Your phone is fine."
My friend got worried.: Open the menu and tap Reveal, or swipe up to leave the app. Nothing was ever changed on the phone. You can set the automatic reveal to 10 seconds in Settings.
The clock in the picture is wrong.: The screenshot shows the time it was taken. Take a fresh one right before the prank.
I can't hear the crack.: Turn the volume up. If your phone is on silent, turn on Play in silent mode in iCrack's Settings. Sound and haptics are included in your first 3 pranks and with iCrack Pro.

What does Pro add?: Your first 3 pranks include sound and haptics. After that the crack still appears, and iCrack Pro, a one-time purchase, adds the sound and haptics to every prank. It's shared with your family through Family Sharing.
I bought Pro. How do I get it on a new phone?: Open Settings in iCrack and tap Restore Purchase, signed in to the same Apple Account.
Refunds: Purchases go through Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
